Spacecat Brewing Company Promises Rotating Menu of Craft Brews in Historic South Norwalk Mill Building
Taproom and Brewery Set to Open in Spring 2021
Norwalk, Conn. February 1, 2021 — Spacecat Brewing Company has received town approval for a craft brewery and taproom in South Norwalk’s J. & J. Cash mill building located at 57 Chestnut Street. The 4,700 square foot space is located three blocks from the South Norwalk Metro-North Station and will feature a taproom that will offer a wide variety of craft brews along with community events, live music, and food from local eateries.
“We are thrilled to join the dynamic local craft beverage scene. Opening Spacecat Brewing Company in my home state has long been a dream of mine,” said founder James Bloom. “The name Spacecat represents a place where you can go and not take things too seriously. Plus, there’s endless beer art ideas for a cat in a space suit!”
Connecticut has set a high standard with esteemed breweries and Spacecat looks forward to offering an additional perspective to beer enthusiasts. Ales and lagers rooted in tradition will be a cornerstone of the menu contrasted by small batches of experimental and seasonal brews.
Originally a textiles factory built in the prohibition era, the revamped modern, industrial space will pay homage to the history of the building. Bloom has been working closely with Norwalk-based Beinfield Architecture to seamlessly incorporate structural upgrades with restored elements to keep the integrity of the building intact. Features include hand blown factory glass windows, 100 year old maple floors, and exposed brick walls to create a spacious and inviting ambiance in the heart of South Norwalk.
“We want Spacecat Brewing Company to be both a destination for craft beer enthusiasts as well as a home for the local South Norwalk to enjoy,” said Bloom. “We are working to open safely later this Spring and look forward to becoming a unique offering to our community.”
